A new chapter has opened in the global family of Purna Vidya on the 2nd Nov 2014 in Coimbatore. The birth of Purna Vidya Foundation in the lush green surroundings enveloped by the western Ghats in the beautiful village of Molapalayam about 30 minutes’ drive from the busy industrial hub of Coimbatore, the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It marked a very significant moment in history, marking a new awareness of the ancient journey of ‘The Spiritual ecology of India’ through time.
In its inception days over three decades, Purna Vidya’s focus was reconnecting young people to the cultural roots of our spiritual culture. However, over the past decade, Purna Vidya gained a global stature, actualizing the simple yet profound message of our tradition “Vasudha eva kutumbakam” – the earth is one family. Oneness – the message of Advaita Vedanta, intricately woven through the matrix of life, found its expression through the nine initiatives of Purna Vidya, each one offering beautiful platforms for self-transformation, leading to global transformation.
Swami Siddhabodhananda Saraswati(Swamiji) and Swamini Pramananda Saraswati (Ammaji) invited to the dias Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswatiji, Acharya Balakrishanji of Patanjali Yog Peeth. Chief guests Sri Aravind K.Kikani, Sri Dr.G.Bakthavathsalam, Sri Lundji and Sri Ramana Prasad.
There were many other distinguished guests, delegates from Singapore, U.A.E., U.K. and Canada, as well as members from other States of India who participated in the event.
The program began with Carnatic Music by Bhavani Kishore, whose song recital was dedicated to ‘Invocations for Divine Blessings’.
Swamiji started on a serene note to welcome the gathering followed by humorous and spontaneous speeches by the distinguished guests.
Ammaji said, “Vedanta cannot be owned up through intellectual work or academic study or oratory skills”. The Infinite in us must be owned up, declared true and expressed through our lives of sharing of ourselves with others”. Purna Vidya’s Spiritual Initiative provides the platform for this Self-transformation to Global-transformation through its residential study programmes.
Today, the parent generation does feel a deep disconnect with their young generation. It is as if they have taken birth in another yuga (era), where elders do not belong, nor do they understand. This disconnect hurts deeply, as we struggle to teach the ways of the elders to them. Technology and global communications have made our youngsters think of themselves as global citizens, while we still grapple with our Indian identity, as a society. In fact, much awareness, much awakening needs to happen for a social and spiritual transformation of our society.
Purna Vidya has designed learning programmes which are initiatives for Educational Institutions & Communities. With Purna Vidya Foundation’s relentless commitment to sharing its programmes of self-transformation, Coimbatore will soon become a model city for young generation to grow with deep spiritual roots, and utilize their social platforms to share Purna Vidya’s self-transforming principle.
Similarly other Initiatives for Corporates, Earth, Village, Art, Health, & Global Peace will also be carried out. We believe in connecting resources to needs. There are many senior citizens, who have achieved all in life and are looking to serve society, not knowing how. We shall provide training and platforms for them to serve through hospitals, villages and environment. The spiritual ecology of India begins with Self transformation and leads towards Global transformation. Purna Vidya is that light of Self-Knowledge that will light up the lives of thousands of people and guide young generations in the journey of self-discovery.
The divine blessing was experienced by all when during the talks, rains arrived on the roof of the tent without a drop falling on the people assembled below nor leaving any sign of its arrival 20 feet away from the tent. The ashram grounds remained dry and the blessings were received by all in awe and wonder.
Teacher-Volunteers from Bala Vidya Mandir School and College students of SNR Institutions beautifully managed the stalls and the crowd, while the Purna Vidya Coimbatore members delegated the responsibilities and active participation from Purna Vidya Global volunteers. The function concluded with prasad for over 800 participants, and all left the temple of knowledge – with much joy and fulfillment.
