Shankara Jayanti celebrates and honors the birth of Sri Adi Shankaracarya, a Vital garu of Sanatana Dharma. Despite his short human life of 32 years, he was instrumental in the protection of Vedic Dharma and the re-establishment of Advaita Vedanta. His commentaries on the Upanishads, Brahma Sutras and Bhagavad Gita, amongst many other works, are vital in our Advaita Vedanta teaching traditions in helping one see the self as non-separate from the divine Highest Self.
On this auspicious Shankara Jayanthi, give gratitude to the knowledge of the self that has been gifted to you through Guru Adi Shankaracarya. Just as darkness dissipates instantly in the presence of light, may Guru Adi Shankaracarya’s blessings and teachings be the light that dispels the darkness of ignorance in us.
