I work as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in UK for the past 25 years and I am associated with Purna Vidya since 2005. I never felt so complete in my knowledge despite my academic achievements until I turned into the Spiritual knowledge which is an undeniable fact.
I came across Purna Vidya initially through Sri Dhira Chaitanya but my deeper spiritual journey sustained only after association with Swamini Pramananda - fondly known as Ammaji. I can certainly say that our spiritual fellowship truly occurred only after our wonderful trip to Himalaya Uttarkashi ashram on the banks of river Bhagirathi during the Ganga Dashahara event. Our pilgrimage with Ammaji to “Chardham” was very special and memorable as it was filled with Satsang, Yoga and meditation at Tapasyalayam and miraculous events like meeting spiritually elevated mahatmas and special darshans at Kedarnath and Badrinath dham. Ever since then our association with Ammaji intensified and we noticed a paradigm shift automatically redirecting us towards spiritual knowledge.
As we all know spiritual journey is complex and complicated. In our modern culture, when we need a GPS and other navigation assistance even for the well-known paths of day to day existence, stepping into an unknown spiritual journey without proper guidance through a “Sat” is futile and frightening too particularly in the midst of many monetarily driven institutions. In that regard we are truly blessed to be associated with Purna Vidya which is one of the few authentic institutions in India from the lineage of Sankaracharya’s Advaita Parampara. Through the blessings of our masters Swami Siddhabodananda Saraswati and Swamini Pramananda, the co-founders of this wonderful institution, our journey was streamlined through Bhagavad Gita Home Study Satsang which we have been doing for the past 5 years and also through discourse on Upanishads.
I must certainly confess that in the initial days of our Bhagavad Gita home study, it was extremely intimidating and seriously tongue-twisting to pronunciate the Sanskrit words properly, particularly for someone like me who cannot even speak Hindi. However through the guidance of our Purna Vidya books and the methodical audio teaching even the beginners like me were turned into a serious sadhaka in a very short time and guided me to become a mentor for Bhagavad Gita study groups on-going currently in UK.
Bhagavad Gita teachings are nowadays available all over the internet in various forms. But the Purna Vidya Bhagavad Gita study guided by bonafide “Advaita parampara” is unique as it gives a good introduction to the beginners and in the same time drags you into a much deeper discussions and understanding for serious seekers through the reflection part of the study.
My personal progress following this Bhagavad Gita study is truly phenomenal and very much in a fast track to mention the least, which disciplined me in many ways. My thought process has become more coherent and decision making ability in difficult situations has become easier with clarity. My attitude to face and handle complex problems and personalities both at work and society has become more mature and balanced. As a senior doctor in NHS, I work in a very high pressure and intensively demanding environment in a day to day basis. My calmness and composure nowadays are well noticed and very much appreciated by my colleagues which gives me immense satisfaction and confidence. Nowadays, I could bring peace, harmony and oneness with ease and express good leadership qualities in my working environment which is helping me in my yearly appraisal.
Purna Vidya Foundation at the outskirts of Coimbatore city has matured into a brilliant serene environment by the blessings of Lord Vanalingesvara shrine with mountains on the backdrop, where Upanishads and Vedantic courses are held on a regular basis.
I feel privileged to be associated with Purna Vidya as it provides a complete package for spiritual aspirants. For sadhakas who wants to practise yoga, tapas and ascetic retreat, Uttarkashi Tapasalayam on the banks of Mother Ganga offers a wonderful portal and for those who want to engage in Vedanta, Upanishad and Bhagavad Gita discourses, Purna Vidya Foundation at Coimbatore undoubtedly is one of the finest choices one can make.
