Hamsa Gita

The Hamsa Gita (also called Hamsa Upadesha) is a short but profound spiritual teaching found in Hindu philosophy, especially within the Srimad Bhagavatam.

“Hamsa” means swan, a symbol of purity and wisdom. In this context, it refers to the divine form taken by Lord Vishnu to teach higher spiritual truth.

The Hamsa Gita is a dialogue where the Lord, in the form of a swan, instructs sages (often the mind-born sons of Brahma) about:

The nature of the self (Atman)
The illusion of the material world (Maya)
How the mind creates bondage and liberation
The importance of detachment and self-realization
